Assam Rifles on Saturday announced the safe release of an abducted Tangkhul woman during a coordinated rescue operation in Manipur’s Kamjong district along the Indo-Myanmar border.
According to a post shared by the force on X, Olina Ningshen, a resident of Namlee village, was allegedly abducted by cadres of KNA(B) and VVEZ. Following coordinated efforts involving Assam Rifles, intelligence agencies and local stakeholders, she was safely released on May 9, 2026, near Z Choro along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The Assam Rifles stated that the rescued woman received immediate medical assistance, psychological support and was later reunited safely with her family.
During the operation, security personnel also rescued 15 civilians, including women and children, from violence-affected areas. Humanitarian assistance was reportedly provided to the rescued civilians.
In follow-up operations, one armed cadre linked to KNA(B) was apprehended. Security forces also recovered a weapon and ammunition from the individual.
The Assam Rifles said that intensive domination and security operations are continuing in sensitive areas of Kamjong district to ensure peace, stability and civilian safety in the region.
The force reaffirmed its commitment towards maintaining security and protecting civilians across the North East, particularly in vulnerable border areas.
