Guwahati: A student was hit by an escort car of Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy on Thursday, 8 November 2018.
The victim identified as Anupam Chakma was in his sixth semester at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati.
Anupam Chakma is a resident of Tripura, was on his motorcycle when the accident took place on Thursday morning in Guwahati’s Bharalumukh.
The victim was first taken to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, after which he was shifted to GNRC, where doctors declared him dead. The finance minister was reportedly overseeing the situation arising out of the accident.
Himanta Biswa Sarma is the finance minister of Assam and the President of Badminton Association of India.
The escort car with registration AS 01 HC 8600 has been impounded however Assam Police have been silent over the issue.
