Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission successfully conducted the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 on Sunday across 74 examination centres in 35 districts of Assam for recruitment to 78 posts under various State government services.

According to the Commission, a total of 41,695 candidates had registered for the examination. The applicants included 23,218 male, 18,473 female, and four transgender candidates. The registration also included 278 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The recruitment drive covers 11 State services, including 45 posts in the Assam Civil Service, six posts in the Assam Police Service, three District Transport Officer posts, one Superintendent of Excise post, two Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies posts, two Assam Urban Administrative Service posts, five Inspector of Labour posts, eight Assistant Employment Officer posts, four Sub-Registrar posts, one Research Assistant post, and one Inspector of Excise post.

In an official statement, the Commission said the examination was conducted smoothly with the support of district and police administrations, the Health Department, Postal Department, Municipal Corporations, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited, and the principals and teachers of educational institutions that served as examination centres.

The Commission also introduced two notable initiatives for this year’s examination. For the first time, the question papers were provided in Assamese alongside English, enhancing linguistic accessibility for candidates. In addition, OMR answer sheets with carbon copies were issued, allowing candidates to retain a copy of their responses.

To promote transparency in the recruitment process, the Commission uploaded the provisional answer key on its official website immediately after the conclusion of the examination on Sunday. Candidates can now review the answer key and submit objections, if any, within the prescribed time frame as notified by the Commission.
