Assam: As part of the Assam Police’s statewide drug disposal drive, district police units in Bajali and Dhemaji destroyed large quantities of seized narcotic substances in separate operations conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to a post shared by Bajali Police on X, the district police destroyed a large quantity of seized NDPS contraband in the presence of the District Drug Disposal Committee. The disposal process was carried out by adhering to all prescribed legal procedures, ensuring transparency and compliance with statutory guidelines.
In a separate operation, Dhemaji Police, along with members of the District Drug Disposal Committee, destroyed 421.917 kilograms of ganja and 153.45 grams of heroin at the police reserve in Tulsibari on Sunday (July 12, 2026). The disposal exercise was conducted as part of the mission to build a drug-free India and followed all legal procedures prescribed under the NDPS Act.
The coordinated destruction of seized narcotics forms part of Assam Police’s ongoing statewide initiative to safely dispose of confiscated drugs after the completion of legal formalities. Such drives are aimed at ensuring transparency in the handling of seized contraband while reinforcing the state’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse.
The operations were carried out in the presence of the designated district committees, reflecting the authorities’ continued efforts to strengthen enforcement against narcotics and promote a drug-free society across Assam.
