Aizawl, September 12, 2026: A joint anti-narcotics operation in Mizoram has led to the seizure of nearly seven kilograms of methamphetamine tablets valued at an estimated ₹5.59 crore, with two people apprehended in connection with the recovery.
The operation was carried out on September 11 in Seling, where personnel of the Assam Rifles, along with the Seling Naka Party of Aizawl DEF and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), acted on intelligence inputs to intercept suspected movement of illegal narcotics.
According to the Assam Rifles, the joint team stopped two vehicles during the operation. A subsequent search resulted in the recovery of 6.991 kg of methamphetamine tablets, with the total value of the seized substance estimated at ₹5.59 crore.
Two individuals were apprehended during the operation. The seized narcotics and the persons taken into custody were subsequently handed over to the NCB for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation is part of continuing efforts by security and enforcement agencies to check the movement of narcotics through Mizoram and strengthen measures against drug smuggling in the Northeast.
