Assam Rifles Seize ₹54.35 Lakh in Mizoram’s Siaha, Three Held Including Two Myanmar Nationals

The Assam Rifles conducted a major cash recovery operation in Mizoram’s Siaha district, leading to the seizure of Indian currency worth ₹54.35 lakh and the apprehension of three individuals, including two Myanmar nationals.

According to a post shared by the Assam Rifles
on X, the operation was carried out on May 7, 2026, in the General Area Zawngling under Siaha district. Acting swiftly on specific inputs, Assam Rifles personnel successfully intercepted the suspects during the operation.

The security force stated that Indian currency amounting to ₹54,35,000 was recovered from the possession of the apprehended individuals. The identity of the accused has not yet been officially disclosed.

Following the operation, the recovered cash along with the detained individuals was handed over to Tuipang Police Station in Siaha district for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The Assam Rifles described the operation as part of its continued efforts to strengthen internal security and maintain peace and stability in the Northeast region. The force also reiterated its commitment towards counter-insurgency operations and cross-border vigilance in sensitive areas bordering Myanmar.

The development comes amid heightened security monitoring across several northeastern states due to concerns related to illegal cross-border movement, smuggling, and insurgency-linked activities.
