Dispur: 24 MLA’s of Assam can’t contest in panchayat polls. Out of 24 MLA’s 3 MLA cannot contest in Gaon Panchayat president post and other 21 MLA’s cannot contest in ZPC president post.
This is because they do not have the necessary educational qualification as per Assam Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act, 2018.
All the 24 MLA’s are under 10th passed and as per Assam Act 2018, they are not suitable for Panchayat election in Assam.
